1/23/12

Aghhh! I dont even know what to say about the weather there! Thats insane, i hope everyone is doing alright. Ill i could think of when you told me about everything shutting down, is that is why the prophet told us to get a food storrage. I have a feeling that its probably going to get worse over the years. Mas, when we listen to the prophet and hear the words, we know that God is speaking to us and wont have to worry about anything.
I cant believe you wrote that email in your new house! Already!! Its crazy how fast that was. I havnt even been gone for that long! Or atleast it feels like it. Im glad everyone is loving the new house and that Hayden is working hard with work. Also, i forgot about the message that i left for you, but i remember writing it. Weird.
Im glad that the family is starting to spend more time together. I pray everyday for this because i remember when i was little how happy we were when we had family home evening, cooking desserts playing games and just feeling gods love for us. |Awesome stuff.
I started crying when you told me about grandpa because i know he is with us always. All he wants is to be happy and recieve as much joy as we can on this earth. I know that through this gosple and throught the ordanances we can have a fullness of happiness. (I just realized my grammer and everything is pretty bad, discuple).

Anyways, this week has been pretty normal. When i say normal, its usualy crazy but everyday is like that so its normal for me.
I did my first service project and used a wheelbarrel and moved a bunch of dirt for this member so they could build a house. Its was so much fun because we had music and i started singing and had lunch afterwards. Great stuff.
Also, im starting to learn how to make a dessert or somthing the eat every week. Ill make some of the stuff when i get back. Im supper excited to come back and make stuff for thanksgiving and christmas.
Im starting to learn and understand what people are saying alot more, but onee thing thats irritating is my accent. I hvae a super strang accent still so they cant really understand me. Owell, over a period of time i will lose it. Hopefully.
Also with my companion we are starting to sing a hymn everymorning. Its sooooo bad. Im pretty sure when Heaving Father listens He is embarrassed for us. Its that bad.
I am trying to write cards for eveyone that writes to me but with not much time i cant write to everyone is a week, so sorry if you havnt gotten one from me yet!
Anyways, i dont really have much to say for this week.

The picture of the week is from the MTC in provo, i have to catch up on the photos i couldnt send in the past so you will get some of brazil in a little bit. I will send one next week, its the coolest picture every and is as Brazilian as it can get.

I love you all and cant wait to here more about how everyone is doing!!

Pictures from the MTC!

1/16/12

Entao, eu estava tentando enviar miad fotos mas, its very slow when i
was trying to send multiple. So i came up with a great idea!! Foto of
the week! I will have fotos from the mtc because i have to catch up on
the past pictures. Mas, here is the foto of this week!

Anyways, i have so freatful for the support that i have back at home,
i am also super grateful for the letters! Its like christmas
everytime. I dont have much time this week to write an email because i
was trying to figure out the picture thing, so my sentences will be
brief about what happened this week.

First, I laughed and was super excited to here that you found pictures
and journals about your great great grandpa. Thats one thing i am
looking forward to when i return. I wasnt to do family research and
coises com isso so i have names to take to the temple and can do
ordenances for them like grandpa or whoever else!! Todas as pessoas
no mundo!
I usually do emails around 11 am here in brasil. And there is no other
address or i will have no other address while i am here. The address
all letters and packages will go the the mission building.
Its funny to here about the weather there and how cold it is because
right now i have a watch tan line :) I actually got one my 3rd week in
the field. I have you all are enduring the freezing temperatures!

Entao, para esta semana:
I figured out how to send pictures! Apperently. I realized that i
didnt have to buy something because the cord was connects to the
outlet the entire time so i was able to use that for my USB cord.
Finished a project to help me with the Plan of Salvation and im
working on other little projects like it. Drawings, timelines, coiasas
com isso. It reminds me of work when i worked with criancas. Using my
talents sempre.
This week i spent a few days in another area with a brasilian because
our ditrict leader had to stay with my comp for a little to see how he
was doing missionary leader wise. Nao Sei. Mas the experience was
awesome! Working this a brasilian is so much easier because i can
forget ingles and not have to worry about saying things wrong and
feeling stupid. hahaha.
Oh, also the elder used my guarda chuva and lost it some how so had
to buy a new umbrella. Something interesting about that was, when he
lost it, it stopped raining, which was a miracle, and then started
raining after i was able to buy a new umbrella a few days later haha!
We have a a baptismal date for a few people!! INTENSE. Its hard for
them to keep commitments though because the church is kind of far away
and its alot of work for them. But if they have a true desire, they
will go and the lord will help them.
This week during one of our lessons, they people wanted to here me
pray in my native language and have my comp translate. SO HARD! I kept
saying portuguese words and had to talk slow because i have to think
about the words i say alot in pportuguese in ingles.
Anyways, i have to go now, I love you all and hope that you all are
having a great winter!. I will write more proximo ves when i have
tempo.

1/09/12

This experience is rediculous. What doesnt kill you only makes you stronger. okay thats a bit of an overstatement here but its sooo exhausting. Its awesome. We do need to return for the world cup, that would be the coolest thing ever! Anyways, im glad to here everyone is doing great, and i like to here more about everyone like that, its more entertaining and i can be apart of the family while im away when i know what everyone is doing haha. Great job Nat!! Keep going strong in school and youll be the top dog facialist massage woman.. dont know what its called. I want to do hot yoga with you mom again after i get back. That what really cool, we need to to more things like that. Its great to hear Carlton is taking online classes, what is he studying, or what does he want to do? I cant believe your already moving, thats crazy, its great to get it done. One thing i learned from this is time management and its probably the most important thing. That and planning. Thanks for picking out my room for when i get back. Im sure i wont have probably adjusting to a new house when i get back after traveling constantly here.

Thats awesome that the missionaries stopped by at Nats house! Next time invite them in when you have time and talk! Not for too long though, cause they have things to do. I have so much respect for missionaries now that i am one. Im trying to think of more tips when you come in contact with them. Just be nice and dont accept a commitment like going to church or something unless your actually going to do it! Really frustrating when we invite the whole world and no one shows. Also, it would be great to talk with them about missionaries cause you can learn more about what im doing, but let them teach lessons or else your wasting their time hahaha. Oh and read O livro de Mormon! Its soooo great!!

Not sure what to do about that care but we wil figure something out when i get back. Language is coming. Not as fast as i would like. But its coming. My companeiro thinks im an idiot cause i dont learn fast. He is super smart though so its not fair hahaha. We just need to work on patients. I didnt try the pencil thing because first i need to figure out how to read and pronunciate tambem. Thanks for sending me the packages! I cant wait for them to arrive. I have time to read the letters, just send me hand written ones tambem so i have something to do when im not doing anything haha. I need to buy something to send pictures through email, if i cant, ill just save them for right now until i figure it out. Ill probably find a way when i can comunicate more and understand what i need to do.

Anyways, about my week. I realized that its alot easier to keep track of whats going on through email and not a journal so im using this as my outro journal. The other one is for daily thoughts i guess.

I love Brasil because they listen to american music too!! We will be walking down the street and ill here Adele/ Bob Marley/ or Coldplay and start singing along. I probably shouldnt but i cant help it. Its makes me soo happy haha.

Oh i have a question. Did you recieve a picture through email from the CTM in sao paulo sobre a pictura com the mission president?

I did my federal poilicia thing this week so i would go to jail and and i can stay in Brasil!! Great news yeah!?

Oh i saw my first Brasilian Midget (anáo). They are the same here just Brasilian.

Oh goodness. This week we had an even worst rainstorm. It rained so hard that the water was penetrating through my guardachuva and getting me wet. Also the ground was covered in water so when the water hit, it was getting my pants wet. It also didnt help that the rain was coming sideways getting my shirt wet. Rediculous. With the hills here, the water formed rivers down the streets, and when i stepped in the streets, it was like 3 inches and flowing so it got my shoes andd socks soaked. We kiind of had to walk through a 3 foot pond of water because it floaded the street. I called that day O Rio nas Ruas. The River in the streets. (i think)

Oh i also farted during a lesson. The man was old so i dont think he heard. (dont need to send that to everone)

My dreams are brasilian but all thats missing is the language. Its funny because in my dreams i only speak portuguese when im teaching other people, or leanring. Its strange.

This week i found 70 Reais in my scriptures! I guess i forgot i put it there. Reading pays off!! Haha thats bad, but its really does, in blessing :)

Well, im glad to here that everything is going great! Im holding up and trying hard, everyweek im learning and growing. I hope you all are praying for all the missionaries because this work is not easy. I cant wait to get another email from you next week. I need to go buy food now. Tchau! Elder Cain

Oh also send me the addresses of Gina/Carla/Dalton/Shyla Godinez/ (Makes sure the addresses are correct.) make sure my emails are getting to Chrissy Morgan, and tell her she can send these emails to whoever she wants like the Haueters/Mccoulloughs, ect. Thanks!!!

1/02/12

Happy New Years!! Its weird but awesome to thing that i get to spend this entire year doing to lords work and not have to worry about anything other than that. My comp and i get along really well, i dont really havemuch to say ever so we dont talk a whole lot but i like him, he is a good leader. He reminds my of chris but in a more nerdy way.

Okay so for the New Year, we dont get to do anything cause i still have to be in bed by 1030 so yeah... not much other than sleep. But once 12:00am came around, you couldnt sleep. Its sounded like 创um zona de guerras创 (probably spelt wrong) but a zone of wars. Its was rediculous!! For about 20 minutes straight it sounded like gunshots and bombs because brasilians here like like noises, and dont have flashy fogos artificias. I was trying to count cause i had nothing else to do but listen to them and it was impossible. I figured that there was about 3 explosions per second (my area is kind of like a bowl so you can here something from far away.) Crazy!!

Anyways, i wrote some things down for this week.

Oh youll be proud of this one. I cleaned and scrubbed all of my white shirts. The part that goes around your neck. Sothey are all shiny and clean.
We have a few pets in our house. Lizards. Kind of cool. I named them, we have 3. Pia (lives by the sink) Muro (lives on the wall outside) and Mesa (She is the newest cause i just found her yesterday. She lives on the table behind some stuff) Its kind of nice because i can learn new words cause i name them after the things in portuguese.

Oh to answer your question about the safety. Its completely safe here. There is only one part the kind of freaks me out at night but we are never over there. Other than that, everyone is super friendly. they are either walking home or sitting outside drinking haha. (probably not funny, but they are kind.)

Also! we were doing street contacts and we were talking with this guy and he knows that everything is true, joseph smith, o livro de m髍mon, and everything cause he is friends with one of the quarem of the seventy! I think he said Ceasar.. Ayways, he isnt a member because 创his heart belongs to catholics创 cause he was grown up as catholic. It didnt make any sense to me because if gods church was on the earth, why you remain in a church of um homem.. Owell.

Also, another lesson we were teaching was about children and baptism when they are babies or super young. The obvious is that they cant sin because they dont know any better and that its a choice, and they cant make that choice cause they dont really know what it is. I also learned that when you make this covenant, its a covenant sobre salvation, but a kids can read about salvation nor can they learn cause they wont know what it is. (Something like that, i knew in the moment.) Also Reading Moroni chapter 8 helped.

Teaching pastors/fathers is frustrating.

Also, a little bit about the culture here. is everyone is religous which is good. But also everyone says Gra鏰s a Dues. EVERYONE. Its really funny. Everytime i smile a little when someone says it. Even little kids say it when we asked them how they are doing. 创Tudo bem, gra鏰s a Dues创. Haha funny.

Oh also, things about the CTM in Sao paulo i forgot to mention. An elder that i met there was a kid that my teacher in provo baptised! Sister Ririe磗 investigaator from a while back. not sure exactly but i thought that was cool. ALSO, Elder Manave, another elder that i met, and his friend or roommate, are from Mo鏰mbique. And guess who they know... Trent Mccullough!! I thought that was soo cool.

Well, i think thats all i really had written down. But i still have time to type.

Diarrhea is of the Devil. (probably dont need to send that to everyone)

Oh, the food here is super goos and i figured out how to make some of it. Its actually really easy. The desserts are super good too and really simple. I usually just make them ffor snacks cause its not am elaborate dessert but good.

Learning the language is difficult, but i know i can do it or else i wouldnt have been called to serve in Brasil. Im learning everyday whether it be about the culture, living, gospel, or language. With the language im happy if i learn only one new word a day. Its improvement. As long as i dont move backwards haha.

Anyways, i hope you guys hade a great New Years!! Im kind of jealous that you have time to just sit and do puzzels. I love puzzels during christmas or winter. I have better things todo right now and i can so all the puzzles in the world when i get back. Right now i get excited when i find time to study. Its strange. Well i have to go buy some food, and clean the house and other fun stuff!! Ill write another email next week!!

Tchau! Elder Cain.

P.S. I have a New Years Meta por everyone... Write me a letter.
